Warhol aveva capito tutto: il potere si serigrafava, si moltiplicava, si svuotava di senso a forza di ripetizione. Mao Zedong era già un’icona prima che qualcuno lo appendesse a una parete; queste due Instax mini nascono da quel cortocircuito: il volto del Grande Timoniere catturato su pellicola istantanea direttamente da una serigrafia di Warhol e poi distorto mentre l’immagine si stava ancora formando, premendo sull’emulsione viva fino a piegare i colori e i contorni in qualcosa che non è più propaganda né fotografia, ma un terzo elemento sospeso tra i due. Le due stampe sono accostate e incollate a mano, montate all’interno di una Note Card Moleskine, non come cornice decorativa, ma come scelta artistica precisa: un oggetto di qualità che diventa parte dell’opera, che la contiene e la protegge e che serve da imballo per la spedizione via posta.

Mao Zedong was already an icon long before anyone hung him on a wall; these two Instax Mini prints are born from that short circuit: the face of the Great Helmsman, captured on instant film directly from a Warhol silkscreen, then distorted while the image was still developing, pressing into the living emulsion until the colors and contours bent into something that is no longer propaganda, nor photography, but a third suspended element somewhere in between.
The two prints are paired and hand-mounted inside a Moleskine Note Card, not as a decorative frame, but as a deliberate artistic choice: a quality object that becomes part of the work itself containing it, protecting it, and also serving as its packaging for postal shipment.
